Biography : Along with Teucer, sprung from the fangs of Gesmal to found the great city of Thebes. Ajax subsequently joined the Alliance in their fight against the UNL.

Alcritas |
Biography : Gifted Sage and Teacher, Alcritas traveled the world before finally settling down near Corinth. Although alienated from one of his best pupils, Xenophon, Alcritas eventually joined forces with him against Algiers. His role in this conflict led Meletus to manipulate the Corinthian authorities into arresting and trying Alcritas on charges of impiety, and corruption of the young.
Status : Alcritas was found guilty by the Corinthian jury, and executed.

Anthalon |
Biography : Anthalon is the head of the Wizards' Council, ruler of Xancrest, and the most powerful mage in all of the Alliance. Along with Themistocles, he holds the most influence over military affairs of anyone within the Alliance, and uses that influence to battle Sovereign and the UNL. Anthalon has stated that he believes Sovereign to be Kaleb.
Status : Anthalon is alive and well, leading the resistance effort against the UNL.

Averroes |
Biography : This student of Xenophon aided his former teacher in their conflict against Algiers. Little is known of his activities after the fall of Corinth, but he was rumored to have extensive dealings with McNemier.
Status : Last seen in Xancrest, it is not known whether Averroes escaped the fall of that city.

Balidrin |
Biography : Companion to McNemier the Magnificent, Balidrin was a powerful and noble knight, who carried the powerful shield that bears his name. After witnessing the Dragon Varnoth butcher an entire village, Balidrin swore that he would not rest until he slew the beast.
Status : Balidrin was slain by the vampire Malenfront while searching for the sword Kothas-Onar.

Biography : A powerful and colorful warrior, Byrne fights of the side of the Alliance against the UNL.
Status : Byrne escaped the fall of Xancrest, and fights on to this day.

Cornell |
Biography : A extremely powerful wizard, Cornell is believed to have betrayed Xancrest in its war against the UNL.
Status : Cornell was last seen when he pulled off the daring theft of Kayolith's Staff. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Biography : An enigmatic and fearsome warrior, Gemini wanders the land in search of adventure.

Hawkslayer |
Biography : Companion and close friend to McNemier the Magnificent, Hawkslayer was a fierce warrior who wielded an enchanted two-handed axe. After Selene's betrayal, Hawkslayer retired, and returned to using his given name, Terrance.
Status : After reporting to Xancrest command what he knew about Sovereign, Hawkslayer disappeared. His current status and whereabouts are unknown.

Biography : A brilliant researcher and analyst, Jenkins is generally acknowledged as the foremost authority on the ability of magic to influence geo-political events.
Status : Jenkins escaped the fall of Xancrest, and currently aids what is left of the Xancrest/Nordakar Alliance.

Kaleb |
Biography : Kaleb was a powerful wizard allied with Xenophon, against Algiers, during the latter stages of the Northern Wars. As Meletus rose to power, he ordered Kaleb's wife and children executed when Kaleb failed to surrender to him. Very little is known about Kaleb's activities after this point, although some have speculated that Kaleb is, in fact, Sovereign. Other information, however, suggests Kaleb may be dead.
Status : Unknown.

Kriken |
Biography : Disparagingly called "Big K", Kriken is an extremely powerful warlock, as well as being very adept at the creation of magical constructs. Kriken was a chief ally of Meletus and of Algiers in their war against Simonides, and the mortal enemy of Xenophon.
Status : Cast into the void by Xenophon, presumably never to be seen again.

Biography : Fierce Dwarven warrior who was trapped in the Mines of Rokig Kodar for an extended period by a vicious Ettin. Eventually escaped thanks to the intervention of 7th Order troops, and joined them in their efforts against the UNL.
Status : Alive and well, fighting on the side of the Alliance.

Biography : A brilliant military mind, Lysander is the supreme commander of all UNL forces.
Status : Unfortunately for the Alliance, Lysander is alive and well and continuing to destroy all forces that oppose his armies.

Lythandra |
Biography : Accomplished mage and teacher, Lythandra was the wife of Xenophon, and aided him in his fight against Algiers.
Status : After the execution of Alcritas, Lythandra went to sabotage the ship Meletus was preparing to transport Anytus. She was never seen again.

McNemier |
Biography : Known as McNemier the Magnificent, McNemier was an incredibly potent wizard, as well as a skilled inventor. A student of Anthalon, McNemier left his home in Xancrest to pursue private fortune with his comrades Balidrin, Thaynos, Selene, and Hawkslayer. After the collapse of the group following Selene's betrayal, and Thaynos' and Balidrin's deaths, McNemier settled down in southern Nordakar.
Status : McNemier was killed by Sovereign in a failed assassination attempt on him.

McSorely |
Biography : McSorely grew up in the Northern Isles, where his family was butchered due to their religious beliefs. Since that time, he has worked as an agent of the UNL, often undercover. McSorely murdered Renalda, and managed to cast the blame on Cornell.
Status : McSorely is alive and well, aiding the UNL in its war efforts.

Meletus |
Biography : A resourceful, if evil, individual, Meletus used his trade of weapons and slaves to rise to political prominence in Algiers. After the death of his ally Kriken, Meletus used his influence to arrange for the trial and execution of the Corinthian Alcritas. However, this act cost him all of his political capital, and, with his star falling, Meletus gambled by attempting to transport the ensnared vampire Anytus to Algiers, where it could be bound to service.
Status : The vampire Anytus escaped confinement en route to Algiers,
and eventually tracked down and slew Meletus.

Protagoras |
Biography : A powerful mage who spent most of his life peacefully within a small area known as "The Vale", Protagoras was corrupted by Sovereign into betraying Genmar and its allies. After the betrayal, Protagoras sought to make good by assisting McNemier's effort against the sovereign, and later by helping to break Andrus free from the control of the sword Bane.
Status : Protagoras died fighting to free Andrus from the control of Bane.

Biography : A shadowy figure with many contacts, Ralkan aided the Vale extensively in its war against the Godan. After the Vale was subsumed by Talos, Ralkan left for the north, earning pay as a guide through the Konax Caverns.
Status : Ralkan currently aids what is left of the Xancrest/Nordakar Alliance against the UNL.

Biography : Raven, a powerful magic user working for the
Alliance, was the sole survivor when Pylos fell. She subsequently
escaped, and aided the allies in the destruction of Selene.
Status : Raven is alive and well, aiding the Alliance against the UNL.

Renalda |
Biography : After spending most of her life in a small locale known as "The Vale", Renalda fled her homeland after several bloody conflicts erupted in the area. After a brief career in adventuring, Renalda relocated to Xancrest, to aid the nation in its conflict against the UNL.
Status : Renalda was found murdered in the small village of Alverstaff.

Biography : Very little is known about this mysterious sage, save that he must be extremely powerful, and that he apparently has some interest in the events currently unfolding.

Biography : Kaleb's apprentice, Sajon assisted Xenophon in his fight against Kriken. Very little else is known about his activities.

Selene |
Biography : Selene was a member of the band of five, that also included Hawkslayer, McNemier, Balidrin, and Thaynos. Selene was cursed in battle by the dragon Varnoth, with a incurable magical disease, that slowly ate her alive. In order to cheat death, Selene made a deal with Sovereign, who turned her into a Lich. The price of Selene's transformation was to betray her compatriots, which she did, resulting in the death of Thaynos. Subsequently, Selene served as an important figure in the military structure of the UNL, controlling its Undead divisions.
Status : Selene was slain by a 7th Order Unit just prior to the fall of Xancrest.

Biography : Apprentice to Soeme, Silnos is a very powerful spellcaster in his own right. As with most of the magi of Xancrest, Silnos is very heavily involved in fighting the UNL war.
Status : Silnos escaped the fall of Xancrest, and continues to fight against the UNL.

Soeme |
Biography : An extremely powerful wizard, Soeme is second of the council of Xancrest, answerable only to Anthalon. Soeme (pronounced like "home" with an "s") is heavily involved in the UNL war, on both overt and covert levels.
Status : Soeme was killed by a Gehennea Demon, after a unit of 7th Order troops was tricked into allowing it to be summoned near him.

Biography : An immensely evil and twisted being, Soljare has displayed an thirst for items of power only rivaled by its survival skills. Reported destroyed on multiple occasions, Soljare has resurfaced time and time again.

Sovereign |
Biography : The identity and even existence of Sovereign are hotly debated, so his (her? its?) picture here is at best speculative. Alliance command, however, believes that a single individual is in control of the UNL, and is the source behind the Godan, Boemen, Rokka, and Seraphim. At least some members of the Alliance believe that Kaleb is actually Sovereign.
Status : Speculative at best.

Biography : UNL Agent who infiltrated the Nordakar military, Spencer played a key role in the assassination of Soeme.
Status : Spencer was slain by 7th Order agents when Raven was rescued from Pylos.

Biography : Companion and close friend to McNemier the Magnificent, Thaynos was also a fellow student of Anthalon. When Selene betrayed her companions to Sovereign, Thaynos sacrificed himself to save McNemier's and Hawkslayer's lives.

Status : Themistocles escaped the capture of Xancrest, but feels a radical change is needed in Alliance strategy.

Biography : Feared by many, the chief inquisitor of Vayla formerly held office in Xancrest, but was forced to flee the city when it fell to the UNL.
Status : Valsa is alive and well, and is still persecuting heretics.

Xenophon |
Biography : One of Alcritas' best students and husband to Lythandra, Xenophon was a highly skilled warrior, mage, and teacher. A fierce patriot of his homeland, Corinth, Xenophon worked both overtly and covertly in opposition to the encroachment Algiers. After the defeat of Corinth at the battle of Salamis, Xenophon fled to Nordakar, where he was granted political asylum. Xenophon later assisted Nordakar in the UNL war.
Status : Xenophon suffered mortal wounds at the second battle of Finuval in the early stages of the UNL war. He died several days later.
